From 21 to 24 April 2026, the the ENCATC Academy on Sustainable Cultural Management and Policy – Edition 2026, a flagship European training initiative empowering cultural professionals to lead systemic change,   will transform Bilbao into a vibrant hub for reflection, exchange, and forward-thinking practice.

Designed as an intensive four-day programme, the Academy combines high-level lectures, participatory workshops, case studies, and study visits to local cultural institutions. It offers participants practical tools and critical frameworks to address the green transition, digital transformation, governance innovation, and long-term sustainability in the arts and cultural sectors.

More than a training course, the ENCATC Academy is a dynamic meeting point for cultural managers, academics, creative entrepreneurs, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond. The 2026 edition will delve into how cultural organisations can embed sustainability into their structures, rethink leadership models, measure impact, and align their strategies with European and global policy priorities. Through peer exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue, participants will explore how culture can act as a driver of environmental responsibility, social cohesion, and democratic resilience.

Hosting the Academy in Bilbao? internationally recognised for its culture-led urban regeneration — adds a powerful dimension to the experience. The city’s transformation into a cultural reference point offers a living case study of how long-term vision, investment in the arts, and strategic governance can reshape a region’s identity and economy.
